Bishop's Castle boss pleased despite defeat by Tenbury United

BISHOP’S Castle’s new player-boss, Andrew Green, was pleased with his side despite their 5-2 defeat against Tenbury United on Monday.

Green says he hopes to keep unsettled pair Martyn Ziemann and Dan Dawson at the Shropshire outfit for the new campaign.

Ziemann scored for Castle, who fought back from 2-0 down to level at 2-2 in the Ludlow Hospital Cup clash.

Alex Jones hit Castle’s other goal at Ludlow’s ground.

However, Tenbury hit back to seal a place in the last-four.

“We have got a good, young squad and it’s just keeping them together,”

said Green, who has taken over the hot-seat from Fred Jones.

“We had Martyn Ziemann playing and he might be moving to Guilsfield.

Dan Dawson is another one. But we will try to keep them.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle host Red Star Alma Football Club on Saturday in their opening warm-up match.

They have further pre-season games lined up against Clee Hill, Borth United and Bucknell.

Edward Whately is Newcastle’s new chairman, having taken over from long-serving Phillip Morris.
