Tenbury Colts holding trials for football development centre

TENBURY Colts’ new football development centre will be holding trials at St Michael’s College on Saturday.

The club are running the centre for next season and building on their links with Tenbury United Youth and schools in the area.

“The centre is designed to develop our top-end local youngsters, alongside playing for their clubs and schools,” said Colts’ founder James Turrell.

“From September we will be offering football coaching in schools across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire.”

Meanwhile, Lewis Giles was named Colt-of-the-Year in the club’s end-of-season awards at the Shamraj Balti House.

John Blackshaw was Players’ Player, while Luke Gill was voted Most Improved Player and Jack Farrar collected the Clubman honour.

l TENBURY United Youth raised more than £1,000 at a successful fun day.

Rich Widdowson, a director from Worcester City, presented the awards and there was a lot of football played by children and adults.

“It was a great day, with a huge amount of people coming together to support children’s football in Tenbury,” said spokesman James Turrell.
