Weakened Newcastle beaten at Hay St Mary's in Mid Wales South League
10:00am Tuesday 24th April 2012 in Sport By Ian Morgan
Hay St Mary’s 3 Newcastle 1.
MANAGER John Goodridge played in goal for champions Newcastle, who suffered their first league defeat in 17 matches.
Newcastle were without six first-team regulars, including keeper Dave Exall, but played well against second-placed Hay in this Mid Wales South League match.
Newcastle went ahead when Matt Malley headed in Carl Price’s cross but Price was forced off with an injury.
Josh Davies then produced a superb save from Malley but Hay struck twice to lead 2-1 at the interval.
Hay sealed the points with three minutes remaining as Newcastle pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
