Coach Andy Black inspires Tenbury to Midlands Four West North win over Cannock

Tenbury 32 pts Cannock 17.

A ROUSING half-time talk from coach Andy Black inspired Tenbury to an impressive last-day victory in Midlands Four West (North).

Cannock raced into an early 10-0 lead in last Saturday’s match at Palmer’s Meadow.

However, a try by Laurence Hughes, from a four-man line-out move, and a conversion and a penalty from Will Gough levelled matters at 10-10 Cannock hit back to lead 17-10 but Richard Wozencroft darted through to score and Gough added the extras.

Wozencroft took advantage of an interception to put Tenbury ahead with his second try, converted by Gough, early in the second period.

Gough’s penalty extended Tenbury’s advantage to 27-17 before Mark Birks sealed their triumph with the final try.
