Clee Hill 2 Brown Clee 0
JAMES Clifford hit a stunning individual goal in the dying minutes to seal Hill’s triumph in last night’s Bishop’s Castle Cup quarter-final.
Clifford picked up the ball 30 yards out and dribbled past four defenders before lifting his shot over rivals' stopper Steve Jordan.
Earlier, Scott Jordan tapped in Hill’s opener from a yard out in the cup derby played on the grass at Ludlow Town’s SBS Stadium.
The victory delighted Hill’s boss Wayne Whitbread, who said his side will meet either Bishop’s Castle Town or Newcastle in the last four.
“We played very well last night from start to finish,” said Whitbread, who praised central defender Ryan Harris for a solid display.
“We had a bit of a wobble in the second half after we went 1-0 up but we got a second goal right at the end.
“After from our display at Bishop’s Castle a month ago, when we were terrible, we’ve been playing well.
“We’ve been making chances and until last night we had not been finding the finishing touches.”
Whitbread said Hill had enjoyed the better of things in the first half against Clee.
“Brown Clee goalkeeper Steve Jordan made two really good saves and we also hit a post when it looked easier to score,” he added.
