Tenbury 27 pts Stourport-on-Severn 8.
TENBURY got their season underway with a good win over their local rivals in the first round of the North Midlands Vase at Palmer’s Meadow.
They made a good start to the game, and established a 10-point lead. From early pressure, Will Morgan pounced on a loose ball and dived over for the first try. Fred Hughes landed the conversion, and then slotted a penalty to take the score into double figures.
Tenbury went off the boil and Stourport got back into the game with an unconverted try and a penalty to trail just 10-8 at the interval.
The home side added three more tries without response after the break. With Stourport down to 14 men, with a man in the sinbin, Andy Black took a ball from Morgan and ran in an unconverted try.
Pete Phillips sold a dummy to go in under the posts and Richard Wozencroft completed the scoring, with Hughes converting one.
