Knighton-on-Teme 166-8 West Malvern 170-3.
KNIGHTON’S good run came to an end when they crashed to a seven wicket defeat, entertaining West Malvern in Division 5 of the Crusader Worcestershire County League.
Knighton slipped to 29-4 after winning the toss and batting, but then Mark Evans (27), John Humphries (43) and Martin Toms (47) rescued the situation to post a total of 166-8 from their 45 overs. Peter O’Connell (4-30) and Matthew Gammon (2-39) did the damage with the ball.
The Malvern openers took the score to 36, at which point S Lane (2-23) took a couple of quick wickets to raise some optimism for the home team. Phil Chaundy (39 no) and Alex Hall (57 no) put an end to this by securing the win in the 39th over.
