Ladies clinch promotion with crushing victory at Droitwich

TENBURY Ladies have secured promotion from Division 1 of the Worcestershire League after a crushing success at Droitwich.

Tenbury made a strong start and Amy Bywater opened the scoring inside the first five minutes. This was followed by a thunderous strike from Jo Turvey who was set up by her sister Rachel Croxton.

More fine play by Tenbury resulted in four more goals before half-time as Bywater, Croxton, Emily Davies and Abi Thomas all hit the target.

Kate George and Thomas further extended the lead during the second period and although Droitwich pulled a goal back, Bywater scored twice more in the closing stages.

The promotion success adds to that of Tenbury's under-16 Badgers team who have won the Herefordshire Badgers League.

Tenbury 2nd can add to the list on Saturday at Bridge Street Sports Centre when a win will see them clinch the Worcestershire Division 3 title.

The club's annual meeting will follow at 4pm.
