Wyrley Juniors 0 Tenbury United 3.

AFTER weathering a storm at the start of the game, Tenbury settled down to produce a polished all-round team performance to defeat fifth-placed Wyrley, and consolidate their mid-table position in Division 2 of the Sport Italia West Midlands (Regional) League.

Playing with the wind in their favour the home side tore into Tenbury and created a number of good chances. A lot of the efforts were off-target, but when called upon, Alex Bright was equal to the task. He made one particularly fine one-on-one save.

The home side did get the ball in the net once but it was disallowed. Tenbury gradually got a foothold in the game and the rest of the half was more evenly contested. They had a few shots on target, but apart from once, they were restricted to long-range efforts, which the keeper dealt with.

They scored the crucial first goal in the latter stages of the half. Ryan Morris picked the ball up in midfield, brushed aside a couple of defenders, and took a snap shot which flew into the top corner.

Tenbury extended their lead 10 minutes after the restart. Aaron Morris blasted a free kick low past the wall from outside the area. The home side hit back, but the United defence was playing with confidence now, and restricted them to long-range efforts.

A third goal 15 minutes from time sealed the win. A cross came in from the right flank, and Mike Foster met it with his head 12 yards out. The ball looped back across goal and over the advancing keeper to register Foster's 20th goal of the season.
