Tenbury United 3 Parkfields 0.
AFTER giving the ball away far too cheaply in the early stages, Tenbury settled down to earn a comfortable win over the basement side in Division 2 of the Sport Italia West Midlands Regional League at Palmer's Meadow.
Tenbury were slow to settle and, presented with a plentiful supply of ball, Parkfields looked lively down the flanks without ever really threatening Alex Bright in the home goal.
The home side sharpened their act up as the half wore on and had taken a firm grip of the game by half time.
Ashley Botwood played the ball through for Mike Foster to open the scoring midway through the half.
Ross Oliver deflected a long-range shot by Duncan Palmer to increase their lead.
Tenbury came out in the second half looking to score a third goal to kill the game off and then use the majority of the time to change their formation.
As it turned out, they had to wait 20 minutes before Foster obliged with his second goal of the game.
This allowed the home side to carry out their plan, with youngster Adam Wilkes coming off the bench to taste his first action for more than two months after being sidelined by a knee ligament injury. He replaced Oliver who had earned a rest with an all-action display.
Ryan Morris looked dangerous down the flank, but his testing crosses, and shots, failed to add to the score.
Parkfields were struggling, but kept going until the end. Their best effort was cleared off the line, otherwise Bright had a very quiet afternoon in the home goal.
