NORBURY FC warmed up for the new Shrewsbury Sunday League season with an entertaining 10-goal inter-club friendly.

The game – dubbed ‘Old uns v Young uns’ – saw former and senior Norbury players pitted against the current crop of youngsters in the squad.

The younger team triumphed 6-4 thanks to doubles from Jake Ellis and Kieron Mulloch, plus strikes from Rhys Evans and Ben Phillips.

Goals from Martyn Ziemann, Jake Cintra, Gavin Cooke and Mark Hudson ensured the older side were never out of the game.

After finishing runners-up last season, the league committee accepted the club’s request to remain in Division One and they will be led by Norbury’s youngest-ever boss – 20-year-old new player-manager Reece Thomas.
