LUKE Powell hit a century as Lady Hawkins took victory in the Richard Wydenbach Cup Final hosted by Herefordshire Schools’ Cricket Association.

Powell was the highlight of the day helping his side to 147 all out following nine catches taken by John Kyrle fielders, as Luke Timewell took 4-19 and Alex Hotston 2-50.

In reply, Noah O’Neill ( 21) and Ben Deards (12) batted well for John Kyrle, but later batsmen were undone by the leg spin of Thomas Hatchwell (3-16) as they finished on 66-9.

In the Richard Wydenbach Plate Final, Bishops set a target of 111-3 thanks largely to a half-century by Iolo Bubb (56) along with Barty Hunt ( 27). However, in reply for Lucton an opening partnership of Jack Barrett (47no) and Freddie Ammonds (27 no) saw them reach their target in the 13th over.

The Jack Roberts 20/20 Cup Final for under-15s saw John Kyrle High School and Hereford Cathedral School meet at Burghill and Tillington CC.

John Kyrle put on 61 for the second wicket thanks to a good partnership between Adam Davies (36) and Ethan Lerego (41) but their teams was hindered by Aidan Webb 1-16, Bethan Goode 2-4 and Hugo Summers 2-11 as they set a target of 99-8.

The Cathedral School looked on target for victory with Charlie Laing ( 22) and Matt Tulacz( 38) before Nye Morgan, bowling a brisk left arm over, took 6-20 in his four overs. Despite dropping wickets the Cathedral School ran out eventual winners by three wickets.

In the Jack Roberts 20/20 Plate Final, John Masefield's target of 123-7 would prove too much for Lucton who were bowled out for 62.

Bruno Recordon batted throughout the John Masefield innings to make a fine 56 not out with support from Alfie Schofield.

In reply Lucton struggled against good bowling and fine outfielding including a wonderful left handed catch from Teo Calvi-Whitelegg.

Lars McDonald took a match winning 3-3 and Recordon took 2-18.

Hereford Cathedral School continued their good form by also picking up the Chadd Cup for under-14 players after beating Bishops by 108 runs in the final.

Tom Skerrett ( 93)and Freddie Ralph (101 retired ) put on 205 for the first wicket as the Cathedral School put on a massive score of 277-2.

In reply, Bishops mustered an impressive 169-4 with batting honours going to Amy Maund (40 no) and Barty Hunt (55 no) before finishing on 169-4.

St Mary's took home the Ed Price Plate for under-14s after claiming victory by 51 runs over Kingstone.

An impressive second wicket stand of 143 from Hugo Bernard-Pullen ( 61) and Harry Mair (63) ensured a massive score of 157-3 off 20 overs for St Mary’s.

In reply, Kingstone batted well to reach 106-3, with an outstanding innings of 54 from year 7 pupil Ollie Langford.

Good support from Monty Kennedy (15) and Xander Elms-Leicster (11) ensured Kingstone made a good fist of the difficult target finishing on 106-3.
