BRIMFIELD and Little Hereford BC’s bowlers marked their 30th anniversary in style, by hosting the popular sport’s equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters.

They took on the Friends of English Bowling touring side which represents the sport’s governing body, Bowls England.

Players from as far afield as Kent and Portsmouth travelled to Brimfield to feature for the visitors, who promote the game, develop young players and provide better facilities for clubs.

The Brimfield and Little Hereford Sports Club-based hosts are set to continue their anniversary celebrations next month by going on tour to Torquay.

Club officials are looking forward to the celebrations but would probably concede they are unlikely to match the memorable moment five years ago when, during a 25th anniversary tour to Windsor, members were stunned to meet Her Majesty the Queen, who turned up unannounced to ensure an unforgettable day.
