BISHOP'S Castle captain Simon Palmer’s decision to ask Church Aston to bat first initially looked to be a good one as the top three batsmen were dismissed for just 16.

But that only brought Gurjeet Saini to the crease who scored a wonderful 61 to change the direction of the game and put Church Aston on course for the win. He was eventually bowled by Richard Langford but number eight batsman Praveen Korabandi’s 25 meant Bishop’s Castle would be chasing 151.

Moulder and Langford offered hope with scores of 15 and 18 respectively but it was Saini who returned figures of three wickets for just eight runs, who did the damage as Bishop’s Castle fell for 95 all out, to lose the match by 56 runs.

In Division Four, Corvedale lost by 140 runs to Harcourt, with Steve James completing a wonderful century for the victors who closed on 224 for 8.

Harry Aldridge added 22 in Corvedale’s reply but they were skittled out in 21 overs for just 85 runs.

Corvedale 2nds conceded against Lilleshall 4ths in Division Three Second XI.
