CLEE HILL United manager Wayne Whitbread admitted he is pleased that his side’s Shropshire League campaign is finally over.

Ollie Smith scored the goal in Clee’s 2-1 defeat to Madeley Sports in the Premier Division at the weekend, the visitors making the most of their chances.

Whitbread said: “We knocked the ball around well for the first 30 minutes and scored the opening goal. But that was probably the worst thing that could have happened because from then on we just got slower and slower.

“They had three chances and put two of them away.

“We went weeks without playing but have a lot of games recently so I think we’re all pleased its over.”

Clee finished the season fourth and the manager admits he had been hoping for something better.

“We set our stall out for a top two finish so we’re disappointed,” he added. “We lost too many games that we should have won.”

Herefordshire League Division One side Woofferton are holding their annual meeting at Brimfield and Little Hereford Sports and Social Club on Sunday starting at 7pm.
