CHURCH Stretton battled their way to a 4-2 win at FC Darlaston on Saturday and will be hoping to build on their second successive victory when they take on mid-table rivals Rock Rovers this weekend.

Two goals from Dean Richards led the way for Paul Smith’s side who let a two-goal lead slip before finally taking the spoils in the Black Country.

Kelvin Sargeant was also on target for Stretton with their other coming courtesy of an own goal.

Ludlow return to action this weekend when they host a Bewdley Town Reserves outfit who have managed to play just once since the turn of the year.

Luke Hicks’ side were unlucky to lose 3-2 to Wolverhampton United in their last match and the manager will be hoping his players can bounce back from that defeat and put some distance between them and the foot of the table.

Their Bromfield Road tenants, Shawbury United, had their Midland Football League Premier Division game with Loughborough University called off due to a waterlogged pitch at Ludlow.

But with relegation rivals Haughmond, Stourport Swifts and South Normanton Athletic also having their games postponed and basement club Rocester losing at Lye Town, Shawbury remain one place off the foot of the table.

They head to Lye this weekend hoping to continue their good run that has seen them pick up seven points from their last four games.

Benji Robinson and Owen Lloyd were the scorers when Shawbury were edged out 3-2 at home to Lye at the start of the season.
