LUDLOW climbed up to second in the West Midlands Premier table with a hard-fought 3-2 win at Redditch.

Jake Watts scored two and a late Adam Hayward strike secured the victory.

Redditch, newly promoted to the Premier Division, applied plenty of pressure in the first half but the Ludlow defence stood firm.

It was the visitors who took the lead with 15 minutes remaining in the first half, forward Watts putting the ball in the net.

Redditch equalised with 20 minutes left in the game but Ludlow were soon back in the lead as Watts finished off an unrehearsed penalty corner.

Redditch got back on level terms again but Ludlow grabbed the lead for a decisive third time, Hayward firing home from another penalty corner.

Elsewhere, Tenbury Ladies 2nds secured a well deserved 2-2 draw against Worcester Women’s Hockey League Division Three leaders Bromsgrove.

Hettie Wood scored twice for Tenbury but a late effort from the experienced Bromsgrove side saw the game end in a draw.
