CLEE Hill ran out convincing 48-17 winners at Five Ways to book their place in the second round of the North Midlands Vase.

And they did it with a young side, giving a chance to some of the club’s youngsters to showcase their skills.

Clee Hill’s league campaign starts this weekend with Rugeley the visitors in Midlands Four West (North). Neighbours Church Stretton also start with a home fixture, against Wednesbury.

In the North Midlands Shield there was disappointment for Cleobury Mortimer who were edged out 13-10 at Edwardians.

A brace of first half tries from Alex Sparks and Josh Winfield ensured a solid start for the visitors but a red card after the break for Sparks failed to help their cause.

Ludlow conceded their first round North Midlands Shield game to visitors Kidderminster Carolians.

Cleobury open their Midlands Four West (North) season at home to Whitchurch while league rivals Ludlow are at home to Spartans.

Bishops Castle kick off their Midlands Five West (North) campaign at home to Warley while Tenbury head to Birmingham Civil Service in Midlands Four West (South).
