LUDLOW-based Shawbury United got their season up and running at the fifth attempt with a 3-0 triumph at Boldmere St Michaels on Friday.
Ben Robinson broke the deadlock following a strong burst in the 12th minute with Josh Thomas doubling the lead with a swift break on the hour.
Max Black clipped the post for Boldmere with substitute Ben Osei later sealing the spoils six minutes from time.
Shawbury’s success followed an early exit from the FA Cup and three Midland League Premier Division defeats.
In the Herefordshire League Premier Division, a double from Jabez Smith and one from Martin Jones was not enough to prevent Orleton Colts going down 4-3 at home to Pegasus Reserves.
Cory Hyde (2), Jason Prosser and Curtis Wynn struck for the visitors.
It was a similar story for Clee Hill United in their Mercian League curtain raiser as Sean Milward and Steve Preece struck in a 3-2 reverse at home to Newport Town Reserves.
