JOSH Thomas was sent off as Ludlow Stadium’s new tenants Shawbury United got ousted from the FA Cup on Saturday.
Thomas kicked out after a coming together towards the end of the first half of a 3-0 extra preliminary round defeat at Midland League Premier Division rivals AFC Wulfrunians.
After chances at either end, Shawbury were dealt a blow when Mark Jones was forced off through injury with Nick Turton scoring for the hosts on 36 minutes.
Turton blasted into the roof of the net from a Brodie Williams centre and things soon got worse for United when Thomas reacted angrily to a coming together with an opponent.
Jake Webb doubled the deficit on 58 minutes, finishing off Rees Wedderburn’s clever cutback and the defeat was rounded off at the death when Jordan Harrison nodded in Webb’s flick on for number three.
Shawbury head to Shepshed Dynamo for their opening league fixture on Saturday (3pm). Their first home fixture at Ludlow takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28 against Lye Town (3pm).
