CORVEDALE skipper Ross Mantle starred with both bat and ball but it wasn’t enough from stopping his side from suffering a 118-run defeat at Harpers in Division Three of the Shropshire League.
He took 4-46 and before leading the run chase with an impressive 61 but it was to no avail.
Harpers chose to bat and reached 269-8 from their 40 overs thanks largely to an unbeaten 125 from Vipul Kolhapure. Sher Zahid (2-33) was the other key wicket taker.
Mantle’s mammoth innings at the crease included two 6s but few could replicate his knock with just three others reaching double figures as Corvedale were dismissed for just 151.
In Division Two, Bishops Castle lost by 15 runs at Willey where Richard Plant and Richard Powell took two wickets apiece.;Andrew Lewis top scored for the visitors with 72.
And fellow strugglers Church Stretton also lost.
