IT will be a familiar looking Church Stretton side lining up in Division Two of the West Midlands League next month according to manager Paul Smith.

And they have a string of pre-season games over the next two weeks to build up to their opening league game on August 5.

“We will have most of the players from last season plus a couple of other lads have shown an interest in coming along to our friendlies,” Smith explained.

“We also have a junior section with our under-17s this season.”

Stretton, who were in the Premier Division of the Mercian League last season, were due to start their pre-season campaign with a trip to Shrewsbury Juniors on Tuesday and are back in action tomorrow at Craven Arms (kick-off 7.15)pm.

Their third friendly is against Church Stoke on Tuesday, July 25.

All friendlies will be away due to the team sharing their pitch with the cricket club.

“We’re really looking forward to the new season,” Smith added.

“It’s a lot more travelling but we’ll have derby games against Ludlow and Rock Rovers.”
