WINNING Tenbury skipper Zack Yarranton admitted his side’s last-over defeat of Worcestershire League Division Four leaders West Malvern was one of the best games he’d played in.

Young bowler Henry Anton claimed the final wicket with the home side just eight runs shy of victory following an enthralling encounter.

“It was one of the best games I’ve been involved in for a long, long time,” Yarranton said. “Everyone played their part and it’s not often it goes down to the final over.”

Batting first, Tenbury made 232-7 with former skipper Aaron Morris leading the way with 66. Kier Sellars (31), Anton (27) and David Hunt (26) also kept the scoreboard ticking.

In reply, opener Matthew Bladerwick-Hindmarsh hit 45 before falling to Yarranton who also had dangerman Philip Chaundy trapped lbw.

Anton (3-47) and Morris (2-43) mopped up the tail and there were also wickets for Rob Farrar and Matt Jones.

Tenbury head to another of the in-form sides on Saturday when they take on third-placed Hanley Castle and Upton.
