HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle admitted there was a lack of quality on show during his side's Championship Match against Royston Town.

The Bulls beat the Hertfordshire side 5-4 on penalties following a 0-0 draw.

"Both teams have had a long hard season and have been hugely successful in their leagues and I think that showed in the quality a bit today," said Beadle.

"There were lots of endeavour and hard work but a little lack of quality and that showed.

"We had enough chances to wrap it up and they had one or two themselves.

"Overall though I think we just about deserved it in the way we played, especially in the second half.

"It's nice to get another bit of silverware in the cabinet and we're still finishing on a positive."

Pablo Haysham played in the hole behind John Mills and Mike Symons in the first half, with Jamie Edge the holding player.

"We've had to make a few changes and it's not been ideal preparation," added Beadle.

"We didn't really have any width to the team, but we went with what we thought was good and match up with their three.

"In a couple of times it worked and in other areas it didn't suit us.

"If we are going to play that way, maybe we need different personnel but in second half we went back to 4-4-2 and looked far more comfortable and created more chances playing that system.

"We found ourselves short on numbers on Thursday and Friday and we changed the shape in the first half to try something a bit different.

"It worked in areas, but as always the biggest threat to us is us and we've done it again today.

"They had two chances – one flashed across the goal from a free-kick we didn't need to give and the one when we gave the ball away in the middle of the pitch and Martin Horsell has come charging out and nearly got caught out.

"We cause our own problems, but it was a nice game to finish off."

Jake Sinclair came off the bench before being withdrawn after aggravating an injury.

"He trained on Thursday but was a bit sore at the end," explained Beadle.

"He came in today and said he was fine and got strapped up.

"But he then got a knock after the first challenge, which aggravated it."
