WOOFFERTON produced a goal frenzy in Herefordshire League Division One, romping to an 8-1 victory at home to Hinton Reserves.

But neighbours Orleton Colts Reserves completed their campaign with the most unwanted record possible, having lost all 24 of their league games.

Dan Gower led the way for Woofferton, scoring four goals in his side’s victory.

He opened the scoring with a well-struck 18-yard volley 15 minutes into the game with Dean Harding doubling the lead on the half-hour.

That was how it remained until the break but it was a different tale in the second half as the Blues ran riot.

Gower latched on to a Luke Pugh pass to net his second ten minutes into the half before Darren Bradley added his name to the ever-increasing scoresheet with a fierce low drive on the hour.

Gower’s hat-trick strike came midway through the second period before Andrew Pugh powered a shot into the roof of the net.

Hinton did reduce the arrears with 15 minutes to go before Andy Pugh and Gower completed the rout in the closing stages.

Woofferton spokesman Dave Thomas said: “The lads put a lot of effort into today’s game. Hinton are a good, young side and broke on us a number of times down the middle.

“But we defended well as a team and it was great to see Dan Gower scoring again. Will Prince did well, getting some crosses in and Dean Harding battled well as he's just back from injury.”

Orleton’s miserable season came to a close with a 4-0 defeat at Ewyas Harold Reserves.

In the Premier Division, Tenbury United missed the chance to climb up to second as they lost 5-3 at Ledbury Town.

Clee Hill United booked their place in the final of the Sportsjam League Premier Division Cup after their 2-1 extra time victory over Childs Ercall. Oliver Smith and Liam Whitbread were on target for Clee who can now look forward to the final against Oakengates Athletic at Telford’s Bucks Head ground.

There was disappointment for Church Stretton as they lost 4-2 at home to Prees, Dan Griffiths and Scott Peever on target for the home side who round-off their league campaign at home to leaders Rock Rovers on Saturday.

There were mixed fortunes for our clubs in Division One of the Sportsjam League. Brown Clee lost 7-1 at title hopefuls Shrewsbury Juniors but Craven Arms Town were convincing 14-1 winners at AFC Broseley where Aaron Hodge led the way with ten goals. Toby Foxall struck a brace for Town and Kevin Price and Jack Beaumont completed the scoring.
