CLEOBURY Mortimer face a new test this season having made the switch to Division Two of the Marches Cricket League from the Worcestershire League.
And they face a tricky opening game, travelling to Colwall 3rd who were one of the in-form sides at the end of the 2016 campaign.
Skipper Ed Kemp says it will be a chance for his team to test themselves against some different opposition.
“We’re really looking forward to it,” he admitted. “We know Knighton-on-Teme from a few years ago and they recommended that we gave it a go. They’re in our division and games with them used to be competitive.
“We have a good, close group of 16/17 players and excited by the challenge.”
Knighton open their Marches League campaign at Ledbury.
The Shropshire League also gets underway on Saturday with Bishop’s Castle opening with a home game against Willey while their Division Two rivals Church Stretton head to Pontesbury. In Division Three, Corvedale start the season at home to Harpers.
