BILL Billson enjoyed double success by winning Ludlow Golf Club’s winter open and seniors’ roll-up.

Billson joined forces with Peter Clements to register a score of 45 that was matched by Steve Wood and Andrew Macwhirter until the last two holes.

The victorious duo emerged from a field of more than 80 competitors before Billson went on to claim his solo success.

His score of 42 in the Stableford competition saw off Roger Smart and Tony Stanley who finished three shots back with Dave Morris another point behind in fourth.

Meanwhile, Mike Bloor travelled up from Abergavenny to shoot a gross 69 off his three-handicap to win Division One of the December Medal by a single point from club president John Bown.

Division Two was also taken by a solitary point as Mat Garner finished just ahead of Simon Herdsfield with a net 67. Paul Phillips finished on top in Division Three with a net 74 to see off runner-up Jeff Jones.

There is still time to take part in Ludlow’s Christmas Cracker competition in aid of Save the Children. Places can be booked through the pro shop.
