CHURCH Stretton fought back from four goals down only to be caught by a second wind in a 6-4 setback at Rock Rovers.

The hosts were 4-0 up at the interval before Sean Gough (2), Dean Richards and Robert Johnson levelled the Sportsjam Mercian League Premier Division clash.

However, two further goals for Rock consigned the visitors to defeat and Church Stretton will look to bounce back at Shifnal United 97 on Saturday (3pm).

James Clifford’s goal was not enough as Clee Hill United lost 3-1 at Wrockwardine Wood. They host Gobowen Celtic on Saturday (3pm).

In Division One, Dale Hodge struck to a secure Craven Arms Town a 1-1 draw at St Martin’s Village, while Scott Davies and Tom Everall (2) were on target as Brown Clee defeated Whitchurch Alport Juniors 3-1.

Brown Clee entertain Coven United and Craven Arms travel to FC Oswestry Reserves on Saturday (both 3pm).

Woofferton progressed in the HFA Junior Cup courtesy of a 5-0 win at Shobdon.

Captain Jack Pound opened the scoring with Luke Pugh and man-of-the-match Tom Ballard each helping themselves to doubles.

Victory saw Woofferton progress to the last eight of the competition but there was no such joy for Tenbury Town.

Mark Boucker (2) and Alex Bright were on the score sheet but Town slipped out 4-3 at home to St John’s Howle Hill.

In the Herefordshire Premier, an Aaron Morris penalty and goals from Ryan Morris, Dale Withers (2) and captain Mike Foster saw Tenbury United beat Hereford Lads Club reserves 5-0.

Tries from prop Sam Wilkes, Mark Williams, Jack Lines, Will Sparrow, Jim Alderson and Sam Thomas contributed to in-form Ludlow making it three wins from three Midlands Three West (North) outings.

The 61-10 hammering of Edwardians ensured top spot ahead of Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash at Handsworth.

Both teams have taken bonus-point wins from all of their matches to date with Burntwood, 45-8 winners against Clee Hill on Saturday, poised to pounce on any mishaps in third.
