HOLDERS Church Stretton surrendered their Midlands Junior Vase crown having failed to take advantage of the wind.
Visitors Greyhound, Samurai’s victims in last season’s final, emerged with a 52-20 victory having raced away during the early exchanges.
The hosts were already 19 points in arrears by the time they got going with a pair of penalties from fly-half Brad Hughes sandwiching a fourth Greyhound try.
Hughes was on hand to cross the line for Church Stretton and was followed by centre Jack Titley before the interval.
The six-point deficit briefly gave Samurai hope but it was a false dawn as Greyhound ran in four unopposed tries in the second half.
Elsewhere, Tenbury progressed 83-13 courtesy of tries from Will Greenwood (4), Callum Spires (2), Claude Celton (2), Greg Powell (2), Paddy Waite (2), Charlie Greig and Greg Parkes. Celton kicked five conversions and a penalty.
In the Senior Vase, depleted Ludlow succumbed 48-26 at Ledbury. Mark Williams, Jack Lines (2) and Laurence Hughes were the try scorers.
Clee Hill progressed without playing after Upton-on-Severn surrendered their tie.
