TENBURY opened their Midlands 5 West (North) account with an 18-15 victory over Aldridge.

Ed Gough got over the line for the hosts, who had just 16 players to choose from, with Claude Celton weighing in with a try, one conversion and two penalties.

Tenbury spokesman Tim Coles said it was a "hard fought, nervy game".

"Like the cup game the previous week, we should have scored more but switched off having dominated early on.

"We got drawn in to Aldridge's game rather than spinning the ball wide where we had the beating of them.

"The defence was good, talking well as we always do.

"The discipline was poor though, under sometimes extreme provocation.

"The ref was not too bad, but missed a lot of incidents, with three yellow cards in the game.

"But there are lot of positives for Tenbury to build on.

"Several players are off to university though and we prop Craig Curtis has a long term injury, which means we will need to draw on all of our resources in the coming months."

off to prop Craig Curtis means we will need to draw on all resources in coming months. Several players to come back in to squad so ok but need full commitment from everyone.

Tenbury are on the lookout for new players with prospective candidates encouraged to attend training at their Palmers Meadow headquarters from 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
