BISHOP’S Castle thrashed Iscoyd & Fenns Banks by nine wickets to remain with an outside chance of promotion in Division Two of the Shropshire County League.

Thomas Moulder grabbed 5-20 to see the hosts all out for 81 at the John Faulkner Ground.

He was well backed up by Richard Powell’s 3-14 and 2-22 from George Rayment.

They lost Richard Plant for 10 chasing down the target but Richard Fifield made 25 and Jonathan Price 41 to see them home.

In Division Three, Ludlow 3rd swept aside Corvedale, running out winners by five wickets.

Harry Aldridge made 41 but Tom Gloster’s 4-26, Danny Bradley’s 2-17 and Adam Bowen’s 2-17 saw Corvedale bowled out for only 96.

David Northwood and Stuart Jardine fell cheaply for Ludlow but Will Gough made an unbeaten 30 with support from skipper Kevin Boulton who made a fine 41 to see it through. Aldridge took 2-16 and Sher Zahid 2-18 for the home side but it was not quite enough.

Bishop’s Castle 2nd were in equally as good form as their first team, enjoying a 10-wicket win against Corvedale 2nd in Reserve Division Three.

After Stephen Morris took 4-44 and Simon Palmer 3-13, there was a perfect send-off for Matt Perry, who is leaving for a scholarship in USA.

He shared an unbeaten century stand with Satch Norton who, once he had completed his 50, graciously retired to allow Matt's sister Caitlin to come into bat and watch as Matt hit the winning runs and completed his unbeaten 50 to overhaul Corvedale’s 118 all out.

In the Worcestershire County League Division Three, Cleobury Mortimer beat Bartestree & Lugwardine by 153 runs.

Ed Kemp led the way with 65 as Cleobury clocked up 267-8. Edward Lewis made 35 and Sam Evans 32 while Ryan Traffell took 3-65, Sam Bowen 2-22 and Matt Ashcroft 2-39.

Bartestree & Lugwardine were then restricted to 114 with Harry Booton taking 3-43, David Shorter 2-30 and Lewis 2-19.

Tenbury 2nd were beaten by 116 runs at Stourbridge 4th in Reserve Division Five.

Arshad Nawaz made 55 and Jack Robinson 60 as the home side clocked up 217-8 with William Rogers-Coltman taking 3-32 and Ian Taylor 3-42.

In reply, Sohail Munir took 7-34 as Tenbury were dismissed for 111 with Lewis Giles making 41.

In Marches League Division Two, Knighton-on-Teme conceded their game with Builth Wells 2nd.

Ludlow's T20 Xl saw off club rivals Burway Renegades in the final of the South Shropshire Twenty20 competition.

Renegades batted first in the final and amassed 151 from 19.1 overs with Mark Porteous (53) top-scoring.

With Luke Miles in fine form, the total presented few headaches for Ludlow who eased to an eight-wicket win.

Miles was awarded the man-of-the-match award by John Newsome, owners of sponsors Woodstock.

Jack Griffiths, top batsman, and Gareth Parker, top bowler, also received awards.
