LUDLOW & South Shropshire skipper Will Sparrow took 4-17 to lead his side to a comfortable win at Albrighton.

The visitors won the Shropshire County League Premier Division clash by a resounding eight wickets.

Chasing the hosts’ 142 all out the visitors swept to victory in the 28th over.

Albrighton started badly as Tyson Bray fell to Matthew Kennedy with no runs on the board and Benjamin Novis was run out for four.

Having reached 44-2 the hosts collapsed to 60-6 but rallied thanks to 35 from Jason Summers who shared a stand of 57 for the seventh wicket with Ben Guest who fell to Sparrow for 27.

Jack Griffiths took 3-39 and Kennedy finished with 2-19 with James Fisher last out in the final over.

When Ludlow replied, they lost Dylan Grinker (9) and Sam Edwards (26) to Bray but they were to be the only losses.

Griffiths helped himself to an unbeaten 55 while Sam Roberts also batted through with 32.

There was a comfortable win for Ludlow 2nd as they beat Wellington 4th by 84 runs.

Simon Miles led by example with an unbeaten 47 after Shehan Gunawardena’s 4-32 left them struggling.

Miles and Andy Williams (27) added valuable runs for the seventh wicket after, earlier, Robin Hillman had made 26.

In the end, Ludlow made it to 181-7 with Marcus Griffiths adding 13 not out at the end.

Gunawardena gave Wellington a start with 25 but fell to Courtney Cooper for 25, one of her four wickets as she finished with 4-19 from 11 overs.

Jake Wilkes then came on to take 4-15 to restrict the visitors to 97 all out.

Tom Gloster, who followed up a fine 55 with 5-38, was man of the match for Ludlow 3rd as they beat Trysull & Seisdon by 75 runs.

David Northwood top-scored for Ludlow with 64 as they finished on 219-9.

Vivek Sudhir bowled well for Trysull taking 5-50 and they made life difficult.

With Gloster among the wickets, T&S were seemingly heading for an inevitable defeat but in fact Ludlow were made to sweat on the result with Neil Bennett offering strong and stubborn resistance. In the end, Bennett was last man out for 79 to Adam Bowen having batted throughout the innings which saw them score quickly but succumb in the 28th over.

Corvedale slipped to a 33-run loss against Shifnal 3rd in Division Three.

Ross Mantle took two wickets as Shifnal made 158-6.

Calvin Priest (5-26) and Tom Gough (3-25) bowled Corvedale to the brink of defeat despite skipper Mantle’s 38.

Paul Evans hit 114 to guide Acton Reynald 2nd to victory at Corvedale 2nd.

The hosts made 173-6 from their 40 overs with Adrian Monteith making 44 but Evans batted from start to finish to set up a comfortable win.

In the Marches League Division Two, Knighton-on-Teme were dismissed for just as they lost by eight wickets against Dales.
