LUDLOW Runners finished strongly in the final race of the summer cross country series at Shobdon Wood.

On a hot summer evening in beautiful and historical surroundings, Tim Iveson, who was representing Builth District running club, won his third race of the series.

This time it was Elliot Taylor of Hereford couriers who finished second on the night with Ludlow’s Jamie Shingler finishing third overall but first in his age group.

Gemma Mallett, representing Croft Ambrey, continued her winning streak by completing her fourth win in the ladies' race with Ludlow’s Amy Fulford in second position and Nicola Davies of Maldwyn Harriers the third lady to finish.

Ludlow’s Matthew Yapp was the first junior home and finished seventh overall on the night in a field of 144 runners, gaining his team valuable points.

Ludlow Runners were represented by four teams on the night, their ‘A’ team in second position behind winners Wye Valley. The other teams finished the race in 11th, 16th and 21st positions.

Wye Valley Runners, who were represented by five teams this year, finished with their ‘A’ team winning the team championship. Croft Ambrey, who hosted the final race, finished in second place ahead of Wye Valley ‘B’, Hereford Couriers and Ludlow Runners in fifth.

The individual men’s championship was won by Iveson with Ludlow’s Shingler finishing in second.

Ludlow’s Fulford finished in second position to Gemma Mallett who won every race.

As well as Amy and Jamie, age-group trophies were also presented to Paul Baskeyfield and Viv Dempsey of Ludlow.
