CLEOBURY MORTIMER enjoyed an impressive win over Ross-on-Wye after a dramatic batting collapse.

The visitors posted a useful 218-9 from their allotted 50 overs in the Worcestershire County League Division Three encounter.

James Manley’s 59 gave them a decent start while Craig Shorter added 29.

Down the order Michael Green added 38 coming in at number seven before Kieran Hall added an unbeaten 16.

Muhammad Arif picked up 3-50 while there were two wickets each for Andrew Stacey and James Tiffen.

In reply, Tiffen made 51 and at one stage Ross were relatively comfortable at 95-3 but wickets began to tumble with Tiffen sixth out at 103 and the rest followed in quick fashion as they were dismissed for 118 in the 31st over, only Tim Dulson with 28 giving any sort of support to Tiffen.

Manley added 3-51 to his half century while Sam Evans chipped in with 2-26 and Ed Kemp bagging two cheap wickets at the end.

No play at Ellesmere where their Division Two game with Bishop’s Castle was abandoned.

There was play though for Castle’s second string in Reserve Division Three who eased to victory over Lilleshall 4th.

The away side were limited to 77-6 in 35 overs, Simon Palmer and Caitlin Perry with two wickets each.

It was nowhere near enough with Matt Perry’s 33 doing most of what was required for a comfortable seven-wicket success.

Ludlow 4th were bowled out for 56 as they lost by nine wickets against Bridgnorth.
