AARON Morris took time off from his footballing duties to star with both bat and ball as Tenbury swamped Enville 3rds to make a winning start to their Worcestershire League Division Five programme.

The Tenbury United joint manager, usually a dominant defender, went on the offensive to hit an attractive 54 (including six fours and two sixes) and then take 5-24 off nine overs to lead the Penlu outfit to a thumping 193-run opening day victory.

Fellow opening batsman Andy Adams cracked nine fours to top score with 74 and Kier Sellars contributed a breezy 55 that included five fours and three sixes. Mark Yarranton also put bat to ball with some gusto to finish unbeaten on 34 (28 of which came in boundaries) as Tenbury finished on 284-7 off 50 overs. David Hunt was also 19 not out.

In reply Enville were then whipped out for 91, with opening bowler Robbie Farrar backing up Morris with the ball to finish with 3-8 and new skipper Zack Yarranton and Henry Anton weighing in with a wicket apiece.

Tenbury 2nd were also off to a winning start as they shot out Enville 4th for a meagre 28 thanks to the efforts of William Rogers-Coltman (6-5 off five overs) and Jamie Farrar (3-6 off three overs). Enville were 15-1 at one stage but collapsed dramatically, with the impressive Rogers-Coltman snaring the first six batsmen, four of them dismissed for ducks.

Tenbury then knocked off the runs for the loss of a single wicket in seven overs, Ian Taylor finishing on 10 not out.

In Division Three Cleobury Mortimer went down by 30 runs against Rushwick. The visitors posted a challenging 224-8 off their 50 overs and though opener Sam Evans anchored the Cleobury reply with a solid 92, only skipper James Manley (42) and Michael Green (17) offered any worthwhile support and they came up short in being dismissed for 214.
