ALLERTON who had been tailed off at Andoversford a week found the application of blinkers and conditions much more to his liking helped when he scored a hard fought win under Lilly Pinchin in the Novice Riders Race during the Clifton on Teme Point-to-Point at Upper Sapey.

With other rivals dropping out of contention, Allerton and Kilmacallogue Bay straightened up for the judge with the race between them. Despite their novice status both Pinchin and Emma Yardley rode like seasoned professionals before Allerton was deemed to have prevailed by a neck.

This was a first success for 17-year-old Miss Pinchin who is based with Fergal O’Brien at Naunton and this victory put her in front in the race to become the Area's Leading Lady Rider.

Lilly was wearing the colours designed by Maddie Hems who at eight-years-old was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and had to undergo various stages of gruelling treatment.

The pink and blue colours, sporting hearts required special approval from the Point-to-Point Authority but have caught people’s attention since Pinchin made her debut between the flags.

Worcestershire rider Pine Banks enhanced her chances of challenging for the Ladies Title after Horsham Lads success in the 3 mile 6 furlong West Midland Area National Mixed Open.

Leo Mahon seems to have this year’s Riders Championship in his grasp but Coln Rogers based Mark Wall consolidated second position after Flying Gnu’s victory in the 9-year-old and over Conditions race.

The Restricted resulted in a victory for the favourite Treacyswestcountry and Lucy Wheeler.

Sam Evans' Croome & West Warwickshire-qualified Singininthevalleys was held up for most of the 2-1/2 mile Maiden before James Ridley produced his mount to join the leaders at the third from home.

His possession of that position was of a brief tenure as the Francesca Nimmo trained Betterlatethaneva quickened clear and had an eight-length advantage at the finish.
