TENBURY United are up for the cup as they bid to crown a successful campaign with some much-deserved silverware at Bromyard this Saturday.

The Herefordshire League?runners-up tackle Pegasus Reserves at Delahay Meadow in the final of the HFL?Senior Cup in the knowledge that they comfortably saw off Saturday’s opponents in both league meetings this season.

But despite hitting Pegasus for ten goals in the two games - 5-1 and 5-2 victories - United joint boss Nick Stocker insists there is no room for complacency.

“We are not taking anything for granted, despite those two league wins over Pegasus,” he said. “I went to watch them recently and they were excellent, beating Wellington Reserves 6-4. They had a few first-teamers in the side and it made a real difference. If they play a similar side against us it will be really tough.

“We have struggled in the last month to get a full squad together but this is a final so I would like to think everyone will be available.”

Tenbury led the Premier Division table for a long spell before being caught by Wellington. Stocker added: “I am pleased we have been at the top competing for the title but I am also gutted we couldn’t find that final push when it was needed. It would be bitterly disappointing after all the hard work if we ended the season empty-handed so Saturday is massive for us.

“The highlight of the campaign for me was winning 4-3 at Ewyas Harold with a last-minute wonder goal from Dan Gittins. We were 3-0 up at half-time, Harold got it back to 3-3 before we managed to clinch it in the dying seconds. It was mental.

“But the biggest plus would have to be that as a team we have improved. That’s all we want to do, just keep improving.”
