LUDLOW Juniors A were victorious at Shrewsbury Town in the Community's Key Stage 2 South Shropshire football tournament at AFC Ludlow's ground last Wednesday.

The event, which included 12 teams from ten schools across South Shropshire and North Herefordshire, saw each side compete in a groups of four on the 3G pitch.

The schools which competed included:Wigmore Primary School, Bedstone College A, Bedstone College B, Bitterly CE Primary School, Newcastle CE Primary School, Bishop's Castle Primary School, Clee Hill Community Primary School, Luston Primary School, Ludlow Junior School A, Ludlow Junior School B, St Georges C.E. Primary School and St Laurence CE Primary School.

The three group winners, Wigmore in Group 1, Ludlow Junior A in Group 2 and St Laurence in Group 3 progressed into the Group 1 final with Clee Hill also qualifying for the top group as the best runners-up.

Ludlow Juniors A, a mix of years five and six, then won all three games in the final Group 1 matches to emerge victorious in the tournament.

Ludlow Juniors A will receive a tour of Greenhous Meadow and be flag bearers as part of Shrewsbury Town in the community takeover day for the Sky Bet League 1 clash at home to Wigan Athletic on April 2.

"I'm very proud of them, they were very committed," said Ludlow Junior School teacher Natasha Pryce.

"We knew it would be a well-organised event and that the kids would love it whether they win or not.

"It will be really exciting to take the children to the Greenhous Meadow in April."

The winning team was: Isla Daniels, Nicole Smith, Stefan Hirons-Varsi, Sam Barber, Cameron Marsh, Jack Condliffe, Sam Sainsbury, Dylan Griffiths and Robbie Pardoe.

Ludlow Junior School B team was represented by: Lydia Brisbane, Lola Wear, Harvey Griffiths, Tim Moriarty, Mackenzie Link Josh Bowen, Justin Andrews, Zander Waldron, Owen Wheal and Harley Powell.
