Newcastle romped to their biggest win of the season as they saw off visitors Brecon Northcote 8-1 in the Mid Wales South League.
Matt Jones scored the 12th minute opener direct from a corner only for the visitors to level with their first real attack of the game.
But two goals in the final three minutes of the half eased Newcastle into a two-goal interval lead, central defender Simon Oakley and Carl Price on target.
The home side dominated after the break with leading scorer Craig Morris bagging a brace before Jones drilled in his second. Further goals from Price and Oakley completed the rout with the Brecon keeper also pulling off a number of fine saves.
In the Sportsjam League Division One Cup, there was success for Bishop's Castle Town who beat Gobowen Celtic 3-1. But a Joshua Partridge goal wasn’t enough to save Brown Clee who crashed out to Oakengates Rangers by the same scoreline.
In the Premier Division, Church Stretton lost 2-1 at Rock Rovers, Robert Johnson with the goal.
Norbury FC returned to action only to lose 4-2 to Rock Youth in the quarter-final of TJ Vickers Sunday Senior Cup, John Hudson and Rhys Evans with the goals.
