TENBURY United bid to kick start 2016 with a Herefordshire League derby double when they host local neighbours Orleton Colts at Palmer’s Meadow this weekend - weather permitting.

The New Year resumption of the county league programme was washed out by last weekend’s torrential downpour, and it means United haven’t played since November 28.

They won 1-0 at Colts back in August, and the result triggered a sequence of results that lifted them to the summit of the Premier League table.

They have since been knocked off their perch and resume their programme trailing leaders Wellington Reserves by one point, having played two more matches. Wellington, who are still unbeaten, are scheduled to meet Westfields Reserves at Allpay Park.

Tenbury Town’s promotion hopes in Division One were also dealt a double blow in the run-up to Christmas with a shock 4-0 defeat at home to Sinkums followed by a 5-3 reverse at Bromyard FC.

Bob Sumner's men have the chance to restore some confidence and avenge one of those setbacks when they travel to Sinkums this Saturday.

In the Sportsjam League, Church Stretton, now up into fourth place in the Premier Division table, travel to AFC?Bridgnorth Reserves while Clee Hill United have a top-of-the-table clash at leaders Stoke Heath in Division One.
