TENBURY battled bravely before losing out in a wind-ruined encounter at Midlands 5 West (North) rivals Chaddesley Corbett.

They trailed 14-0 at the break but performed much better in the second period to finally finish on the receiving end of a 21-7 defeat.

Ed Gough's men had to defend against the strong wind in the first half, and were lucky not to be punished for giving away several penalties.

The home side finally crossed the Tenbury line for a converted try, and though Adam Badi came on to shore up the scrum and spark some more attacks, a second try under the posts saw Chaddesley open up a 14-point advantage.

Tenbury had the advantage of the wind in the second half but it was Chaddesley who crossed again for another converted try.

Play then swung from end to end but Tenbury had to wait until the 74th minute to open their account when Patrick Waite went over for a try converted by Claude Celton.

Though the forwards were generally outplayed and pushed off the scrums, they still tackled well, while the three-quarters strove to attack at every opportunity but were held up some aggressive Chaddesley tackling, though Lawson Thomas and Celton both impressed as usual.

And strong runs by skipper Gough and Callum Spires would also have accrued points against most teams.
