MILKMAN Pete Bull proved the cream of the crop to lift the Ismay Cup at Ludlow Golf Club.

Bull delivered a net 67 and though it was matched by Richard Rodgers, Jonathan Price and Steve Price, his back-six score secured him top spot and the trophy.

Rodgers won Division One with his score of 67 with Darren Humphries finishing second with 68. Division Two saw Bull beat the two Prices on countback while Richard Cox finished on top in Division Three, seeing off Ed Wood into second place on the back nine.

Des Price won the Tom Nolan Trophy in the seniors roll-up with a terrific score of 42 points. Close behind in second place was Joe Patrick on 41.

The Midsummer Madness event, which started in 2002 and is played as closely as possible to the longest day, saw nine brave ladies tee off at 6am, with Val Jackman emerging the early-bird winner on 32 points.

Meanwhile, Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club were in party mode as they celebrated 22 years of operation.

The club opened on July 1, 1993 and to mark their birthday, they hosted an Anniversary Texas Scramble. The members got right behind the celebrations with a bumper field taking part in what were almost perfect conditions.

Neil Brydon, Paul Liggins, Glen Tramaseur and Jez Duffield shot a very impressive 56.6 which on any other day would have won the competition. But they were pushed into second place on countback by just one shot around Deer Park, Josh Rowbotham, Charlie Edwards, Louie Edwards and Harry King recording the same score but sealing victory courtesy of a barrage of birdies on the back nine.

Rowbotham said: “We are good friends and play together regularly which helped us as we know each other’s distances and could help on club selection.

“The course was in great condition and we took advantage of this by either running the ball in or attacking the greens. It was great to take part in one of the biggest Texas Scramble events of the year to celebrate the club’s birthday.”
