COACHES from Inspire2Coach were on hand to help with the fun at Ludlow Castle Tennis Club’s annual open day.

The club prides itself on its determination to introduce new players to the sport, and every year they encourage ‘newbies’ of all ages and abilities to get involved.

Steve Matcham, the club’s communications director, said: “The club’s coaches devised an imaginative series of exercises and drills and each of the activities was designed to boost a particular skill.

“It was encouraging to see the smiles on the faces of the youngsters as their confidence grew.

"In many cases progress was rapid and tennis balls were soon whizzing back and forth.

"The coaches had to work hard to keep up.”

The event was blessed with wonderful weather and an encouraging number of curious players, young and old, tried out their skills.

They were joined by many long-time members, led by chairman Mike Jones, and judging by the smiles and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere the event, on some of the most beautifully located courts in England, was an unqualified success.

Matcham added: “The day was a wonderful example of just what Ludlow Castle Tennis Club is all about - great competition in a friendly and all-inclusive atmosphere."
