THE Ludlow Golf Club Handicap Team drew on their powers of recovery to come from behind and record a home win over Sapey Golf Club.
After a loss and two halved matches, Ludlow bounced back to win the final three games and complete a spirited 4-2 victory.
Malcolm Weaver and Dave Simpson (2 and 1), Nigel Griffiths and Dave Mytton (4 and 3) and George Watton and Howard Goodwin (4 and 3) were the winning pairs.
Scott Groom and Larry Speers both returned excellent scores of 38 points apiece in Ludlow’s recent Roll-Up event.
Groom beat Speers into second place on the back nine holes. Dave Fish also warranted a mention in dispatches, winning a healthy credit in the Pro Shop by carding the only two of the day on the 17th hole.
Meanwhile Allen Hunt, Bill Billson and Mike Miles fought their way through some terrible weather to win Ludlow GC’s One, Two, Three competition for seniors with a score of 78 points. They finished six points ahead of runners-up John Cooke, Bill Shilton and Des Price.
Billson has clearly hit some top form of late as he and his partner, Terry Fellows, also defeated Ron McKittrick and Roger Smart in the final of the Seniors’ Winter League on the 21st hole.
