OVER half-a-century of motoring nostalgia was celebrated when Ludlow Castle Motor Club hosted a successful open day at the Ludlow Brewing Company on Sunday.

The club, formed 65 years ago in 1950, welcomed members past and present, and, together with the general public, they were treated to an impressive exhibition of rally cars, both modern and going back to the early days of rallying, and club memorabilia.

Included in the display of cars were the ex-Ari Vatanen Rothmans Escort RS1800 now owned by Ludlow’s Richard Gough, Richard Hill’s ex-RAC Championship winning Escort MkI, now in the hands of Gary Smith, and the Mitsubishi Lancer that took Shaun Gardener and Ben Innes to BTRDA National Championship success in 2006 and 2012.

Inside the brewery there was a varied presentation of photographs and press cuttings covering the club’s distinguished history that had been trawled from the archives.

Videos were also shown of LCMC members in rally action.

The Ludlow Castle Motor Club hold their meetings on the second Wednesday of every month at 8pm at the Ludlow Brewing Company. All interested parties are welcome to attend. The LCMC?website is www.ludlowcastlemotorclub.com
