LUDLOW suffered their first setback of the season in the Premier Division of the Shropshire County League when they were beaten at Quatt.

After two wins and a rain-off, the Burway outfit met their match with Quatt fashioning a four-wicket verdict after dismissing Ludlow for 205 in 49.4 overs. They reached 206 for six in 45.1.

Jack Griffiths topscored for Ludlow, hitting nine fours and a six in his 77-ball 62 before being sixth man out at 145.

New South African professional Kevin Hinton failed for the first time in being removed for a duck and it needed a brisk 39 (five fours and two sixes) off only 28 balls from No.9 Edward Riley to wag the tail, with the last two Ludlow wickets adding a more than useful 45 runs.

Alfie Holliehead was soon in amongst the Quatt batting order to take four for 29 off 11 overs, but a half-century from Terry Hughes (56)?and some solid middle-order support from Craig Harris (38 not out) and Craig Jones (35) saw Quatt through to victory.

Jamie Smith was the star of the show as Ludlow 2nd beat their Quatt counterparts by five wickets.

Allrounder Smith collected four for 39 as Quatt were shot out for 141, and then hit 53 of Ludlow’s winning 145 for five reply.

Keanu Cooper, fresh from scoring 61 in last Wednesday’s Twenty20 win over Tenbury, also chipped in with 23.
