PLAYER-SECRETARY Dave ‘Magnum’ Thomas and prolific marksman Dan Gower won the individual awards from another successful season for Woofferton FC.

Thomas claimed the Manager’s Player of the Year accolade and Gower was voted Players’ Player of the Year, with both being presented with their trophies from club president John?Stone after the recent 7-2 friendly win over Orleton Colts.

Gower, who scored 36 goals in 18 league and cup appearances, signed off with a hat-trick and the others came from Keanu Cooper (2), Dickie Everal and Rob Smith.

Thomas said: “We finished third in the Division One table for the second year running and it is something to build on for next season.

“With all the talk of the Herefordshire League being reorganised this summer, we await with interest to see what happens.

“We had a bit of a blip mid-season with one or two poor results but we beat Bromyard and drew with Ledbury Town Reserves, the two teams who finished above us in the table, so we showed that we can perform against the best teams.

“It was a pity we couldn’t have reached one of the cup finals but overall it was another decent season for us.”
