MARK and Zack Yarranton turned Tenbury CC’s first fixture of the season in the Worcestershire League into a real family affair.

The impressive father-and-son duo combined to share all ten wickets in dismissing Division Five visitors Enville 3rd for a miserly 65 in 23.3 overs.

Enville chose to bat on winning the toss and were soon in dire straits.

No other bowlers were required as dad Mark, a veteran 54-year-old seamer, rolled back the years to claim six for 34 off 11.3 overs and son Zack’s fast medium pace pocketed four for 30 off 12 overs.

Both made the most of some helpful conditions and Tenbury, who have dropped down two divisions to regroup this year, were then done and dusted by mid-afternoon for the loss of just opener Tom Pugh.

Andy Adams (23 not out) and Tom Rawlings (11 not out) saw them to a nine-wicket victory in the 10th over of their reply after Pugh had chipped in a breezy 25 that included six boundaries.

Tenbury 2nd made it a winning double when they saw off Enville 4th by five wickets.

Austin Gregory (78 not out) and Brian Pearsall (30) rallied Enville to a decent 221 for five off 45 overs after Adrian Williams (three for 16) had caused them some concern with three early wickets.

But Tenbury topped that on 223 for five in 41 overs, skipper Ben Thompson making 60 and fellow opener Ian Taylor 55 before Jay Da Costa (33) and Chris Giles (33) carried on their good work.
