TENBURY Town proved spot-on as they clinched the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Division Two title.

They dismantled ten-man Kington Town Reserves 7-1 at Palmer's Meadow, a victory that featured no fewer than four penalties, with hat-trick hero Mark Boucker one of three different players to score from the spot.

Bob Sumner’s men only needed a point to claim the crown and they quickly got their noses in front when Tom Pitt scored what proved the goal of the game from 25 yards after just six minutes.

Kington, who had knocked Tenbury out of the HJ Handley Cup a couple of months ago with a stunning 6-5 extra-time verdict at Mill Street, were soon back on level terms through Ryan Newton - but then their afternoon began to unravel.

Mark Boucker followed up to score when Al Bright hit the bar on 35 minutes and seven minutes later came the first spot kick, Bright pushed in the box and Boucker netting again from 12 yards.

A full-length diving save from a Kington defender denied Pitt a second goal four minutes after the restart and Chris Patton converted the second penalty. A third quickly followed when Bright was tripped, and this time Alex Lombardi made it 5-1.

Boucker turned provider to cross for substitute Dan Osborne to score the sixth, and Boucker then stepped up to complete his treble with penalty number four three minutes from time after another substitute, Keiron Worthington, had been tripped. The defeat relegated Kington Reserves.

Mike Foster also poached a hat-trick as Tenbury United, in action at Palmer’s Meadow a couple of hours before Town, finished their Premier Division programme on a high with an efficient 3-0 victory over Fownhope.

United, who wrap up their season against Wellington Reserves in the final of the HFL Senior Cup at Leominster Town this Saturday (3pm), have now put together an end-of-season run of six wins in seven games in all competitions and have climbed away from relegation trouble for a final position of sixth.

Foster scored twice in the first 15 minutes and then completed his treble 20 minutes from the end.

Joint boss Nick Stocker said: “We are obviously in good form going into the final but Wellington are a very good side and we will need to be at our best if we are to pull off an upset.

“We are missing Aaron Morris and Dale Withers, who are not available, and Lee Millichip has missed the last few games through injury but we hope to have him back. Ryan Morris also picked up a knock against Fownhope so we will have to wait to see if he is fit.”
