A HANNAH Watson hat-trick was the highlight of a Ludlow Hunt point-to-point meeting at Bitterley that attracted a disappointing number of runners and riders.

Watson came good after a poor opening ride to string together three stylish wins.

She suffered an initial setback in the opening Members, Farmers and Subscribers race when she could only finish second aboard the hot evens favourite Qrackers to the consistent Upton Centurion (7-4), ridden by James Jeavons and owned by Peter Corbett. The 10-1 shot Rubber Man (Amy Broome) was third.

But Watson then took the meeting by storm with wins aboard a trio of favourites, namely Midnights Mischief (2-5) in the Restricted, Minella For Party (4-7) in the Ladies’ Open and then Union de Chenet (5-4) in the older horse Maiden race.

Other winners were Stratford Stroller (Miss Phine Banks) in the Confined, Stone (J Mahot) in the Men’s Open and 3-1 starter Shan’t Agree (Alex Edwards) in the seven-runner Open Maiden over two-and-a-half miles.
